The Failing Forge

Hook: Deep in the heart of the mountains one of the last great Dwarven cities carries on. The mighty forges are powered by a great underground waterfall which falls over heated rocks creating a huge steam chamber in the bowels of the underground city. The steam turns the forges and keeps the Dwarven way of life alive. However, tragedy of tragedies has struck, the turbines have stopped.

Line: The characters are tasked with seeking out a master dwarf who can repair the mighty steam engine. Or alternately, a player with the Steamworks skill might be sought out by the Dwarves to repair the engine.

Sinker: Many of the parts required were built in a different age, and replacements are not available. The players must journey to old abandoned Dwarven settlements, avoiding the current occupants (Goblins, Dragons, others?), to retrieve what is needed to complete the repairs.
